Orange County Artisan Market

24 03 2011

We are really excited to be part of the new Orange County Artisan Market!  OCAM is a cooperative craft market that aims to put on a series of  great markets that focus on fashion, handmade, crafts and art.  These markets will take place at a variety of places around Orange county.  Roulette Vintage is one of the organizers along with 2 of our designers: Buffy Maske of Reciprocities and River Takada-Capel of Riverbasin Outfitters.

Our first market will take place this Saturday, March 26 from 12 to 5 Pm at the Nightlight Bar & Club!  The Market is part of Nightlight’s 8 year anniversary block party.  So much to celebrate!

Some artisans you may recognize from Roulette are: Reciprocities, Riverbasin Outfitters, Mi Scusi Hand Made, Little Foxes, Cuke & Sew and Brilliant Handmade.  Other artisans that you can meet and enjoy are: Amanda Barr, Cameron Zarrabzadeh, Lollipop Sailor, Headstart, Bijou Savvy, Quite Contrary and Worthwhile Mercantile.  Vintage, remade and handmade clothing and accessories will be available; as well as screen printed goods, candles, art, jewelry, small furnishings, pottery and more!  There will also be a raffle and bake sale.

We’re really excited to see everyone again and hope you all get a chance to come out and say hi!   We have lots of new and fun items to show you!

Halloween Photo Shoot

31 10 2010

So we were a bit crazy this Halloween and decided to do a photo shoot in the AM.  Our aim was to get some good shots for Etsy and our photo albums.  Rebekah and Phip graciously modeled and Melissa was the Photographer Extraordinaire.  All three are so much fun to work with, I wish we had more time to hang out, try on outfits and shoot photos.

Here are a few of my favorite shots from today, you can check our Facebookfor more fun shots, and our Etsy to buy the vintage clothes!  (If you’re local, all of our Etsy items are available at the store to try on and/or purchase.)   Happy Halloween!

fall fashion 102

18 09 2010

At Roulette, we love bright colors, boots and blue jeans!  There’s no need to go all drab for fall.  Think of all those great fall leaf colors.  Burgundy, red, yellow, orange and the blue of the sky.

Fall Fashion 101

12 09 2010

Just because it’s fall, doesn’t mean that you need to put on a wool sweater to feel seasonal.  And lets face it.  It is way too hot here in North Carolina for any wool action now.  The nights are cooling off though and I am very excited to break out my western boots.  My favorite way to transition is to throw some boots with a cotton dress.  One of the great things about living in NC is that so many of our clothes work year around.  A cotton dress can be paired with tights, boots and a sweater or a cute jean jacket to take it into the fall.  But it’s still cool enough for those days when the sun is blazing!  Versatility is awesome.

Hello Birdie!

23 05 2010

My baby sister, Kelly got married this past weekend, and her wedding theme was spring and birds or birds in spring, you get the idea.  The reception had these lovely birdhouses and birds on flowering branches on all of the tables.

Hand painted and put together by my mom and Grandma, these creative table decorations have inspired me to embrace springtime and all those little birds tweeting.  Here a few of my favorite things at Roulette that say “Hello Birdie!” to me.

And here are a few items I found on Etsy that sing to me!  Love, Kara

Mi Scusi Hand Made is back!

13 11 2009

With the cold weather starting, there is no better time for Mi Scusi to bring back her wonderful, one-of-a-kind knits.  What I love so much about her work is that she is giving vintage yarns a second chance at life!  Its amazing to see her take what would have been discarded materials and reconstruct entire wardrobes out of yarn.

Using a diversity of colors, she constructs different scarves, hats, shawls, as well as camisoles and dresses (which are not pieces solely made of  yarn).  All perfect for this weather! Although marketed as uni-sex, in my opinion, most of her pieces have more of a feminine touch to them (which is perfect for me!).  Right down to every detail like her cute vintage buttons, these pieces scream Roulette and everything it stands for.

So next time you stop by, try one on and feel the beauty of each unique piece for yourself.

Love, Melissa
