West Coast vintage/modern fashion blogs

20 03 2011

For those of you who are into the blog scene, I thought I’d recommend two West Coast blogs that focus on vintage and alternative fashion.

The first is a blog called, ‘Calivintage‘ which is a personal style blog compiled by Erin from California. Each day, you can find outfit posts along with fashion inspiration, from antique jewelry finds to high-end fashion shoots and ad campaigns. Erin is also a writer for ModCloth and keeps a Tumblr, which is perfect for a quick, fashion fix during the day. Here is a posting Erin did as a guest blogger for Rebecca Minkoff’s blog, Minkette. The model is Erin, and the clothes are all hers.

The other blog is called, ‘Clever Nettle,’ which is the product of anja louise verdugo, a Canadian living in Portland, Oregon. The blog includes interviews with local fashionistas, adorable spreads by anja herself, and photo shoots. Anja also  sells vintage clothing and art in her Etsy store. Her Tumblr can be found here. This is a spread anja made for her blog in celebration of the supermoon last night. She also compiled a gorgeous layout for an amber-hued supermoon.

I just love the flair of both of these gal’s blogs. Each blog is a perfect mix of modern and vintage fashion inspiration. And the fact they are both creating their own spreads and content is exciting. Check them out, and maybe, your daily get-up will become a bit funkier! Calivintage and Clever Nettle; spreading fierce fashion to everyday women.

Love is in the Air…

21 01 2011

Happy Friday! I love Friday so much ever since I was a little kid. I wanted to share some of my favorite things today…

This would make a wonderful gift, “I LOVE YOU BEST” antique tablespoon from Hammerman on Etsy.

I am totally  in love with Drucilla’s blog and her Etsy shop Drucillapettibone. I love her hand embroidered animal prints and her butterfly wing pendant.

These superhero shoes from Smallfly would be perfect with the superhero cape I’m making Jett for Valentine’s Day:)

This fox necklace from Odette New York is so sweet.

Vintage Valentines (come see some amazing ones at our store).

Crocheted hearts by Kara.

Handmade Valentine’s Cards. Of course Martha Stewart has a million ideas.

Francois the Accordion Playing Cat would make any sofa more comfy.

What are some things you are loving this week?

Have a wonderful weekend. And remember national pie day is Sunday!

Love, Rebecca

Time To Dust Off Your Sewing Machine…

20 01 2011

Right now there are some many fun sew a-longs happening in the blog world. Two of my favorites are Casey’s from Elegant Musings and Peter’s from Male Pattern Boldness.

Casey from Elegant Musings, has a wonderful blog, and is having a dress sew-along making a 1940’s swing dress. She’ll be using the 1940’s Swing Dress Pattern from Sense and Sensibility Patterns.

Peter over at Male Pattern Boldness has a great Men’s Shirt Sew A-Long starting Feb.1. He’ll be using Colette’s new retro  men’s  Neogroni shirt pattern.

Well if you want to start your own sew a-long or if you are ready to add some new pieces to your wardrobe, Roulette Vintage’s sewing patterns are for you:) We have lots of different types: for children, men and women. And this is just the start, we have so many more to list!  So keep your eye out for more to come!  Here are just a few favorites…

Mention “I Love Roulette” and get free shipping on patterns for the month of January 2011.

Have a wonderful and crafty week.

Love, Rebecca

Halloween Photo Shoot

31 10 2010

So we were a bit crazy this Halloween and decided to do a photo shoot in the AM.  Our aim was to get some good shots for Etsy and our photo albums.  Rebekah and Phip graciously modeled and Melissa was the Photographer Extraordinaire.  All three are so much fun to work with, I wish we had more time to hang out, try on outfits and shoot photos.

Here are a few of my favorite shots from today, you can check our Facebookfor more fun shots, and our Etsy to buy the vintage clothes!  (If you’re local, all of our Etsy items are available at the store to try on and/or purchase.)   Happy Halloween!

Hello Birdie!

23 05 2010

My baby sister, Kelly got married this past weekend, and her wedding theme was spring and birds or birds in spring, you get the idea.  The reception had these lovely birdhouses and birds on flowering branches on all of the tables.

Hand painted and put together by my mom and Grandma, these creative table decorations have inspired me to embrace springtime and all those little birds tweeting.  Here a few of my favorite things at Roulette that say “Hello Birdie!” to me.

And here are a few items I found on Etsy that sing to me!  Love, Kara
