It’s Buy Local Week in Carrboro!  And many of the local businesses have special deals going on, including Roulette!

Mi Scusi Hand Made is back! November 13, 2009

With the cold weather starting, there is no better time for Mi Scusi to bring back her wonderful, one-of-a-kind knits.  What I love so much about her work is that she is giving vintage yarns a second chance at life!  Its amazing to see her take what would have been discarded materials and reconstruct entire wardrobes out of yarn.

Using a diversity of colors, she constructs different scarves, hats, shawls, as well as camisoles and dresses (which are not pieces solely made of  yarn).  All perfect for this weather! Although marketed as uni-sex, in my opinion, most of her pieces have more of a feminine touch to them (which is perfect for me!).  Right down to every detail like her cute vintage buttons, these pieces scream Roulette and everything it stands for.

So next time you stop by, try one on and feel the beauty of each unique piece for yourself.

Jett Saylor wore a vintage romper screen printed by the brilliant designer River Takada-Capel of  River Basin. She brought this into Roulette last year and I knew I needed to put it aside for Jett and I am so glad I did! River has just delivered a bunch of wonderful designs from her famous pillowcase dresses to cool skirts and shirts reworked from larger pieces.

Our Fashion opening featuring Revamp’s new summer line is tonight, and we are celebrating all the great revamp fashion with our Ode to Revamp.
Today I’m going to celebrate Revamp clutches and Tux Dresses.  The oh, so cute clutch made of various vintage scrap material, combined with cute buttons and sometimes lace.  We love how versatile they are! And the Tux dress is a long time favorite, ready to party or to drink tea.  These dresses are perfect to take on vacation.  They also look cute as tunics over jeans.

Revamp’s Fashion Walk June 8, 2009

We’ll be hosting the Revamp summer runway collection of evening dresses and day wear with an opening on Friday June 12th from 7pm to 10pm, during Carrboro’s monthly Art Walk.
These one-of-a-kind pieces by Revamp designer Jamie Powell were recently featured as the finale of Raleigh Fashion Week, and will be available exclusively at Roulette Vintage from June 12th to 30th.

We’re really excited about all of Jamie’s new fashion, especially the scarf dresses that twirl so beautifully!  Come enjoy an evening of fashion, drinks, and homemade treats with us and Jamie this Friday.  We’d love to see all of you there!
